The Editor’s View: Street Style at NYFW September 2019
Although New York Fashion Week attendees come to see what looks will walk down the runways, any veteran knows that the real show starts on the sidewalks. So keeping an eye out for the latest trends means keeping your eyes peeled as influencers, editors, models, and fashion enthusiasts walk by. What is even more noteworthy is that the attendees span ages, races, and genders — demonstrating how every trend can be for every body.
Bling Ring:
This season brought a lot of shiny accessories, but with an edge. Think rhinestone pins reading “Tired” or a single drop earring. Others embraced the costume jewelry trend with bold collar necklaces that shimmered like water, and it would surely make any siren envious! One of my favorite accessories included the heart-shaped hoop earring that was the perfect statement piece.
The Color Wheel :
Although New Yorkers are known for wearing all black (myself included) there was a plethora of bright colors on the Spring Studios sidewalks! Even though NYC was just about to enter fall, there were punches of metallic obi belts, neon mini-bags, and shimmering ruby sequins. If you instantly want these colors, try the Jil Dever silver lame with feathers. If you want to go even brighter, then the leopard print scarf with the sunrise effect is the
finishing touch.
Going Green:
Out of all the hues that dominated the streets during NYFW, green won the gold. Earthy olive hues were on bags, scarves, handbags, and even berets! A pastel green skirt with polka dots continued the ruffled trends. While a vibrant seafoam top with feathers paired with soft yellow trousers gave way to a makeshift runway.
Although NYFW may be over for now, you don’t have to wait until February 2020 to try out these trends at Fashion Week! As we enter fall, use the season to try out trends that you’ve shied away from to change up your personal style. Incorporate just a few of these elements with statement Jil Dever scarves to be runway ready. https://www.jildever.com/shop
